Tumkur has it own railway station .Most passenger and express trains have stops in this city. The distance from Bangalore to Tumkur  is approximately 64 kms. Some of the trains that pass through here are Hubli Bangalore Passenger, Hubli Chennai Express, Ajmer-Mysore Express, and Puducherry Express among others.

By Bus :

As Tumkur is only 70 km from the city of Bangalore, it has very good bus connectivity to this city. Tumkur is also well connected to other cities within Karnataka such as Belgaum, Hospet, Hubli, Bijapur, and many others.Important highways such as the NH 206 and NH 4 are within the city limits as well as important state roads such as the Tumkur-Chelur-Bukkapatna , which connects this city to other cities nearby.
